Clare Wright is on a mission to remind us of the that it was due to some courageous women who, at the very birth of the Australian nation, demanded and achieved the vote and the right to stand for parliament for (exclusively white) women. Australia was watched by the world and considered the leading beacon of democracy. These suffragists then took to the seas to bring their message to Mother Britannia: ‘trust the women.’
